To help military families who provide full-time care for their wounded veteran establish a quality life after they make the transition to community-based living. Family members face intense and life-changing challenges as they juggle financial strains, family and household responsibilities, and caregiver stress.

The time to act is upon us. We believe that a collaborative effort of the many different organizations which seek to provide support to these families is the best way to make rapid, lasting and significant improvement to the way our nation supports wounded warrior families. We published The Wounded Warrior Family Care Report in April 2009 and shared it with the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the House and Senate Committees on Veterans Affairs and other non-profit organizations with the hope that each would consider the recommendations as they evaluate the programs for which they are responsible

The report provides a synopsis of our research and recommendations to improve the nation’s support system for families of severely wounded service members.

We then focused our efforts on addressing the gap between resources and needs for families who have made the transition from inpatient care to home-based care for their severely wounded service member.

The Community Resource Coordinator Program provides community-based coordination to meet quality of life needs that are not already addressed by federally funded programs.
